Location

The location is not far its about 20-25 minutes away. You will walk on the side of the road and will wear bus vests so you are safe. When you get there you will see trees and bushes every but there is a clearing. To get up to the cliff you have to follow a chain which will be surrounded by trees and bushes. There are two options mama and papa bear. If you are not sure about papa bear go on mama bear because mama bear is smaller but steeper than papa bear and papa bear is huge and has got small sharp rocks. The surroundings from above will amaze you and will show the tops of the trees and a small stream trickling around the clearing.

Equipment

If you still don’t feel safe there is equipment you wear so you don’t fall. What you will wear: A harness for the carabiners to hold on to. 2 carabiners to hold on to the figure of 8 .The figure of 8 to hold the rope. A helmet to stop the rocks hitting your head and rope will be there to hold you. Putting it on properly is a challenge for the harness you have to have the straps closed. The helmet has to fit you and the you will be ready to go down.

Technique

You need to trust so the instructors will tell you to lean back, the instructors will hold the rope to get trust. When you trust the instructors. You will start to go down the cliff. To make it easier try to lean back and jump, the jump only has to be little. On the way down the figure of 8 will heat up and will burn you if you touch it so you will do the cowboy hold which you put in your free hand under one of the straps. If you want to stop the rope you will hold it at the back.  Remember to trust the instructors and equipment.

So now you know that Abseiling is safe and good fun.

Port waikato camp

The screams of terrified children rings thought my sore ears like a out of tune guitar, I grip the rope so I do not lose myself the rope is rough with frayed bits around it. I think the water that splash into my ear  is a thing of distraction I think that it is not scary. The dark shadowy bushes towers over me. The dark shadows watches over me like a witch wanting me as her supper. The dark leaves that surround me like I am a little mouse but I am not afraid. The rope burns me like me burning my hand on the pan. As the ghost person jumps out at me, I tumble to the hard ground. The hard dry ground collapse with another steep down,  since it was cold, the leaves that rustle in the wind which makes me shiver. The dry water that I wish to get rid of stays stuck in my mouth. The rustle from the people is not scary at all. The laughter of surprised children makes me smile with happiness.
