Holidays are just right

Holidays are just right.

I am writing to you that the holidays are just right because if it was any longer you would get bored, and run out of things to do. Here are some reasons why.

To begin with the holidays are just right because you can chill, relax, put the term behind you and be ready for the next term. Also you have time to go away for the amount of time you wished to have.

Also if the holidays were any longer you would start to miss your friends your brothers and sisters will start to annoy you and be siller by the second, and you would love to have sports start again so you can get away from the house.

On last reason is that you will start to get bored if the holidays were longer because the jobs you do, You would be doing the exactly same jobs over and over again and when you have free time you will be sick of the toys and games you have played over one hundred times.

Therefore I strongly believe that holidays are just right. and if one of the reasons happened you would be either bored or sick of things.

Brown Kiwi’s Genetic Secrets Disclosed

While reading the news, I came across this article about some people finding something new about brown kiwi's.

I found it interesting, because I had no Idea that things like this was true.

I realised that if this is the case That is why they are so endangered.

I wish I understood how the kiwi can survive if it does not have excellent sense of smell.

Four-Year-Old Norwegian Toddler Sleepwalks Three Miles To Nearby Town

While reading the news, I came across this article about a toddler that walks to a nearby town
I found it interesting, because something like this doesn't usually happen.
I'm surprised that a child that small could walk that far.
I realised if this happens again she could walk onto the road and get hit by a car.

Dallas Seavey Wins Iditarod Third Time In Four Years!

While reading the news, I came across this article about a man called Dallas Seavey that wins a race that you use your dogs for. The best ones to use are huskies.
I found it interesting, because I did not know that things like this would happen.
I discovered that they do this race so the dogs are not replaced by snowmobiles.
I realised that if they did not do this race they would have snowmobiles instead.

My Holiday

Wingspan National Birds of Prey Centre.

What is this place you ask and where is it?

This place is on Paradise Valley road as you go to Rotorua.
It houses injured NZ Falcons and other birds who need care, like Tahi a barn owl she has a broken wing that can’t be fixed so is a permanent resident at Wingspan and her name means one as she is the only Barn owl in captivity in New Zealand. They also have Moreporks one is called Frodo.

They have a museum about the history of the Falcons and what are the predators to them and how we can help to protect them.

At 2pm everyday they do a demo with 2 NZ falcons. The day we went we say Atareta she was a beautiful female bird who was trained by a Local Morrinsville Man Andrew Thomas whom my mum and dad know.
Atareta and Andrew showed the audience how she flew and how she captured her prey by using a lure. The next bird was a boy falcon called Mojo That had a bell on his tail so his trainer knew were he is also because he gets up to mischief and hides in the trees. We got to have a hold of Atareta this is me holding her. The other picture I have is of Mojo who is demonstrating with a lure  how he hides his food when there is a predator around or if he has a full crop.

This is a non government funded trust so relies on donations and people/clubs sponsoring birds for their upkeep. The entry fee you pay helps feed the birds and helps with the maintenance of the complex.

I highly recommend you to visit Wingspan and find out for yourself just how amazing these falcons are.

Term 3

This term I am looking forward to cross country and choir.  I think that the  cross country track will be a challenge since I am a year six. I think that choir will be fun and have really cool songs that we love to sing along.
